OBJECT: This is rummy game
3-6 Players (One player also has to be the scorekeeper). We also rotate dealers when we play. Whoever is the next person to the left of the dealer who dealt the first hand, would deal the next round, and the deal continues to rotate clockwise with each round. Depending on how many players, each player might deal twice or up to four times.
OBJECT: To have the lowest score at the end of 13 rounds. You are trying for 3 of a kind (like 3 Tens) or a run of the same suit (7, 8, and 9 of hearts).
Jokers are always wild. For the first hand, the dealer deals 3 cards face down to each player. The remaining cards are put in the center and the first card is turned over. For this round 3’s are wild along with jokers. The first player either takes a card off the top of the deck or the card that is turned faced up, player than discards a card. Next player again can take the card the previous player discarded or the top one off the deck. Once a player has 3 of a kind or a run of 3 cards of the same suit, when it is their turn they lay down their 3 cards and discard a card. This player would win the first hand and have zero points. All other players get one more turn and if they have 3 of a kind or a run of 3 cards in the same suit, they can lie down and also have zero points. If players cannot lay down 3 of a kind or a run of 3 cards, they must count them for their score. All cards count as what they are, example a 7 is 7 points, ace is 1 point, face cards are 10 points, etc. However, a wild card is 20 points. You must always lay down 3 cards to not have to count the points.
Next round, the next dealer deals 4 cards face down to each player. This round 4’s are wild and again jokers. You now need to get four of a kind or a run of five. Next round, dealer deals 5 cards face down to each player and you now needs to get 5 of a kind or a run of five. On the next round and all those remaining, you will have 6 cards and over. You now can get two separate sets of 3 cards or two separate runs of 3 cards or one set of 3 cards and one run of 3 cards. In each round as you receive more cards, your runs and sets can be more than 3 cards but the minimum is 3 cards.
Play continues until the last hand of 13 cards. On this hand, Kings are wild and again jokers. After this round is finished, whoever has the lowest points from all 11 hands is the winner.
Variations: Our family plays that you cannot have more wild cards than natural cards. For example, when you lay down your different sets or runs of three, only one card can be wild. If you lay down a set of 4 cards, then two cards can be wild.
